Policies

• All Inclusive supplement is applicable for stays of 6 nights and more.
• For stays less than 6 nights . 30% more on all inclusive supplement will be applied 

• Government of Maldives implemented Goods & services Tax for all stays starting 01st January 2012.GST of 6% will be levied on contracted room rates & all goods and services provided by the resort 

• From -1st Nov 2011 onwards Speed boat transfer is not available
• Final amendments of arrival and departure flight number, time and transfer mode should be notified to the resorts not less than 72hrs before arrival of clients to Maldives.
• All transfer will be by air (normal wheeled aircraft ) which will be operated between Male' International Airport and Maamigili Airport
• If the price of aviation fuel changes by more than 2.50 US cents per litre from base price, the carrier will impose surcharge of USD 2 per person per return flight for every increase of 2.50 cents per litre from the base rate.The base rate for the purpose of calculation is 80 cents.The fuel price refers to the price published by the Maldivian Airports Company
• Air transfer rate may change from time to time by the carrier and the hotel will inform the agent about revision in the air transfer rates as soon as possible
  

• The ages for considering infants and Children are as follows: Infant - From 00 to 01 year Child - From 02 to 11 years
• Maldivian bed tax of USD 8 per infant per night shall be paid by the client directly to the hotel unless otherwise agreed.Children sharing parents room will be charged at the child rate with same meal plan.For Children having separate accommodations, depending on the child age at the time of arrival to the resort and not as the time when the booking is made.

All arrival prior to 4:45 hrs are considered as a full night and charge overnight room rate
• Subject to availability of rooms the hotel provides free late check out for clients taking departure flights before 21:00 of the departure date.However, to guarantee late check out it is necessary to pay 50% room charges.
  

• Bookings confirmed for groups of 8 TWN/DBL or more rooms will be considered as group bookings and will be confirmed subject receipt of 50% pre-payment by the hotel at a deadline given by the hotel.
• The remaining 50% will have to be received by the hotel 30 days prior to arrival or any other deadline given by the Hotel.
• Single rooms in the group bookings will be charged at double room rate given in appendix-1. All supplements charged on actual number of occupants.
• Cancellations of group booking are subject to cancellation charge as per clause 8 of this terms sheet, unless otherwise confirmed by the hotel at the time of group confirmation. If alternative cancellation terms were set by the hotel at the time of booking, the terms set by the hotel stands valid.

Sun Island measuring about 1.6 km in length and around 380 meters in width has 426 elegantly furnished guestrooms, including 72 water bungalows, out of which, 4 are Presidential Suites, 218 Super Deluxe Beach Bungalows and 136 Deluxe Beach Bungalows.

NOTE: For guests staying at deluxe and super deluxe rooms meals will be served from the main restaurant \'Maaniya Restaurent\'. For guests staying at water bungalow , the meals are served at \'Southern star restaurant\'.

These are Beach rooms built just in front of the beach hidden with a bit palm trees and swaying bushed side by side. These rooms have got direct view of the shore and sea. Size: 20.63 m2 / 222.04 sqft

These Deluxe Rooms Feature:
air-conditioning, hot & cold desalinated water, hair dryer, veranda, shower, mini bar, electronic safe, Satellite TV with in-house movies and internet access. IDD Telephones in room with voice mail facility.

Built just on the shoreline, in front of the beach having direct access to the beach are the Super Deluxe Beach Room. These rooms are a little bigger than the Deluxe with a little bit of extra facilities. These beach rooms are built in blocks of two. Size:25.33 m2 / 272.62 sqft

Mouth Watering Thai and Oriental delicacies from an exclusive Reef top restaurant offering a magnificent view of Sunrise and Sunset over the Indian Ocean & fascinating Romantic dinners under the twinkling Southern Cross. How 'all inclusive' works - Valid till 31st Oct 2013:

- All types of beverages for personal consumption, served one glass at a time, ordered while at the Main Restaurant, Coffee Shop, Main Bar or Beach Bar & (Pool bar from 01st Nov 2010 onwards).
- Beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) can be ordered one at a time and not in advance.
- No refund for missed meals will be entertained nor can any benefits of the package be transferred to another guest.
- All the guests staying in the same room should be on “all inclusive” basis.
- No Alcoholic drinks will be served for person aged below 18.
- The “all inclusive” package is available only for the guests entire stay and the guests who cut short their stay will not be refunded.
- The hotel cannot be held responsible for the facilities, services and amenities that cannot be used due to weather conditions or due to circumstances beyond our control.
- Upon check–in at the resort a wrist bracelet should be worn at all times as an identification of entitlement for the all inclusive services and which should be returned to the front desk cashiers at the time of final settlement.
- In case of loss of the bracelet a surcharged of US$20.00 will be charged for a new one.
Our procedure requires billing for all consumption of food & beverage as well as for all other services.
- All guests are required to sign in the bills that are presented against any service provided.
- The benefits of the package can be enjoyed until check-out or check-out time of 1200hrs noon whichever is earlier. In case the transfer gets delayed or advanced due to transfer rescheduling, the clients cannot claim for a refund.

 Sports, Entertainment & Excursions

The resort provides a wide range of sports and recreational facilities with modern equipment and experienced instructors. These include floodlight tennis, basketball, volleyball, electronic games, squash, indoor badminton, table tennis etc. Amongst the exciting water-sports activities available are scuba diving, wind surfing, catamaran sailing, and canoeing just to name a few.

Located on a small island connected by a wide jetty to the resort. The School is about 30m wide and 12 m deep. Two dry rooms, one A/C classroom, one non-A/C classroom, Two equipment rooms, workshop, compressor room with three Bauer K14 Vertical III compressors, two dry rooms, four showers, four toilets, eight changing rooms and lockers are available.

The Diving Center is equipped with 100 full gears of Scuba equipment, all regulators are with octopus and pressure gauge (for training also depth gauge), 150 tanks (10 liter) and 30 tanks (12 liter), 200 ABC's (mask, snorkel and fins), rental Aladin diving computers (80 x), under water photo camera's (5 x MX 10) are also available.

Boat Dives are made three times a day, night dives two times a week (or more often on special request), day trips will be scheduled two times a week. The diving boats are leaving 10-20 meter from the diving school. The boat trips are normally about one hour to the Dhigurah channel. Boats are equipped with radio communication, spare-box, tools, first aid and oxygen set (DAN). For the guests' safety surface floats are provided.

The Water Sports Center of Sun Island is located on the East Side of the island. It has two toilets, two showers, a small terrace, and workshop, sail and surfboard racks are also available. On 20 meter distance there is the beach bar with view to the next door island.

We have three English-speaking instructors to help you in your need and through the lessons. Rental catamaran and windsurfing, water-ski, knee boarding, banana riding, rental canoe’s (single & double) and Jet Ski riding are the activities offered. Jets-ski trips and speedboat trips to the other islands also can be organized on request.

Snorkeling
This journey is to explore the hidden secrets beneath the ocean where the aquamarine beauty and amazing multi-colored corals and fauna are found. The trip is lead by skilled guides who will take you to the best reefs in the vicinity. Snorkeling equipment is available to rent from diving center.These equipment are also available to purchase from our souvenir shop.

Glass Bottom Boat
No need to use the snorkeling gear or get wet to explore the reefs nearby the island. This specially designed boat will help you to watch the coral gardens and the exotic underwater beauty in style. Your dream afloat begins upon boarding this boat fitted with overhead protection from the sun and a glass viewer to see the underworld. Float above the intricate coral heads and marvel at the exotic shapes and hues of tropical fish on this lagoon adventure. Available from 1000-1200 hrs 1400-1600 hrs.

Beach Volley
Every Saturday and Wednesday our sports and recreation team organizes beach volley games at the beach in front of the Main bar. All guests are welcome to participate.

Squash
Warm up your self by a game of Squash. Rent a racket and a ball and hire the court until you are tired.

Tennis Court
Hire a court to play with your partner or select a partner from our staff who will guide you from basics.

Table Tennis
Play light ping-pong in the sports complex. You may get a well trained friendly staff to play the game. Drop in the evening for a game.

Badminton
Stretch your self and play a game of badminton. It will give you a good warm up . Rent a racket and a ball and hire the court until you are tired.

Sun Island presents you with an exciting weekly entertainment program comprising of live band, disco, Karaoke, competitions, poolside shows and many more to make your evening a lively and an enjoyable one.

Maldivian traditional rhythm of Bodu Beru will excite you to dance with the drums. Dhivehi (Maldivian Language) songs sung by our staff will create a Maldivian Experience that perhaps you will never forget. To let you make acquainted with the Maldivian way of life and customs, we organize a number of excursions to the neighboring islands where the centuries old culture and simple life style still remain unchanged. Since time immemorial, the Maldivians have relied on fish as a basic food item for its inhabitants. Not surprisingly, per capita consumption of fish in the Maldives is one of the highest in the world, and fish is the main source of protein for the inhabitants of the archipelago. Fishing is done from dhonis, wooden boats of excellent craftsmanship. It is manned by a crew of eight to ten men or sometimes fourteen. Maldivians go fishing everyday when the weather permits, except Fridays. On Fridays they beach the boats and service them, taking time out for noon prayers. Maldivians like to eat tuna fish and sometimes reef fish. The traditional fishing practiced by the Maldivians is an art by itself that has evolved over the centuries.

Our excursion guides would escort and assist you during these trips that include tours to the local fishing villages, tourist resorts, uninhabited islands, fishing and reef snorkeling excursions etc. Amongst various type of fishing, the choices we offer include sunrise fishing, sunset fishing and big game fishing.

Although it is a part of a Maldivian Fisherman’s daily life to see the fascinating scenarios of the Dolphins play and jump while they pass by in the early mornings and evenings in giant groups, it would be a rare treat for any visitor to experience this marvelous feeling. We organize dolphin safaris everyday in the morning and evening (if the required number of participants sign up). We cannot guarantee your luck but wish you good luck.

Visits to the neighboring islands are organized during the week. From these trips you will get an opportunity to see the behavior and culture of Maldives and its people. Especially during the tour to the island of Dhangethi. Unlike other native islands, it has much to offer to the attentive eyes of the visitors. The island is popular among the resorts because of its Cultural Activity Center, where various old Maldivian workmanship is displayed. This include a number of handicraft activities such thatch weaving, boat building, lace making etc.
