Yes the accomodation is very basic. Well you get what you pay.
The operator at the CAFE is the worst I have encountered, you ask for a flask of hot water and you get the feeling from them that you are trying to rob them. Why don't you get from the bar? etc.
The rest of the staff are friendly and helpful. The guest relations people are great too.
The saving grace is with the Catamaran Sailing. It costs USD $40, and min is a group of 4. Even though in the end I was the only one to sign up, the operator was kind enough to take me on the sailing trip. It was a custom build catamaran sailing boat that allows it to go to very shallow waters and it was so relaxing and fun. We visited some sand banks and ended up on an island with a pool of sharks and rays. We did more snorkeling. This is the best part of my 2 day stay at Giravaru.
The diving school people is also very helpful.
The house reef at Giravaru is also one of the best I have seen in Maldives ( I visited 3 sites off island).
And Maldives is just beautiful. God Blessed to have such beaches and reefs.
