Almost at the tip of South Male' atoll, just above it's only neighbor island Rannalhi is the Fihalhohi island. Almost round in shape with thick lush vegetation and surrounded by a white sandy beach is one of the most favorite resort islands in the Maldives. Many have visited this island more than twice in their life and still long to come.

Not very large and not even small, the island would be the ideal place for a long relaxing holiday in the typical Maldivian no-news and no-shoes style. In a nut-shell this is a tropical island with a decent list of activities and facilities. Fihalhohi may not be the most popular resort in the Maldives but it is still a very desirable resort for many of us who is looking to spend a week or two away from the cold winter and to forget about the routine busy life...

  Transfers
  
• Transfer rates are subject to change due to increase in fuel prices. Guests will bear the rate increase starting from a date advised by the Supplier even if the booking has been fully paid before the change.
  
• Full flight details must be received 10 days prior to arrival date to guarantee transfers on time.
  
• All transfers unless specified are combined transfers. Guests may have to wait for transfers up to 2 hours or more.
  
• Maximum luggage allowance is 20 kg for Seaplane & Local Flights with 5kg allowed for hand luggage. USD 2.00 per kg is charged for excess luggage - prices are subject to change without notice).
  
  Spa & Dive
  
• Guests are recommended to make advance reservations for Spa and Dive prior to arrival to avoid disappointment.

 Accommodation

  Classic Room

The Classic rooms are linked two by two and have a bedroom, bathroom, telephone, table, some chairs, an adjustable ceiling-fan, a refrigerator and an air-conditioning unit that can be used for a $10 fee a day. These rooms have a covered terrace with two chairs, a table and last but not least an umbrella marked with your room number. On the your terrace you will find a water tap to wash sand off your hands, feet and belongings.

  Classic A/C Room

The Classic A/C room has all the facilities and amenities of the classic room. The only inclusion is, as the name suggests, that the room has an aircondition.

  Comfort Room

The Comfort rooms are very luxurious, with standard air-conditioning (operated by remote control), an electronic safe and coated glass windows. The bathroom also has a bathtub and hair dryer. The room also has a writing table and a regular table with chairs. The Comfort rooms are linked per two or four rooms (so 1 or 2 stories)

  Water Bungalow

The rooms of the Water bungalows are fitted with all conveniences. From the balcony you can enter the crystal clear water via a staircase. At the end of the staircase a shower is fitted to rinse the salt of your body when you come out of the water. All rooms are quite spacious and very clean and are capable of housing an extra 2 to 3 beds. The beach chairs are marked with your room number allowing you to take them wherever you wish.

 Food & Beverage

The lounge, restaurants and bars are ‘open’ buildings protected only by a roof of palm leaves and roller blinds made of the same material. All this gives you the sense of being outside. These buildings are not air-conditioned, but even when the ventilators have to work on full capacity, these are still pleasant places to be.

 Facilities & Services

The main building is built in traditional Maldivian style. The guest rooms have stone walls and a roof of dried palm leaves. The lounge of the resort, Fisherman’s bar, Coral Cove snack bar, Palm Groove restaurant, the indoor games area and the one and only souvenir shop on the island are located in the main building. The work-areas, powerhouse, desalination plant, the kitchen, laundry-facilities and accommodation for the staff are located in the centre of the island. The mosque is also located there. The guest rooms are situated in a ring around the island, providing each house with an ocean view. Near the lounge is an Internet and phone booth. Although the rate per minute for the use of these services is not very high, the final bill can be quite steep due to the slowness of the connection.

 Sports, Entertainment & Excursions

If you like swimming, snorkeling, diving, sun bathing and reading books, the Maldives will be your favorite destination anyway. The local "Ocean Venture Diving School" (under German management) has a good reputation and offers frequent diving tours to the south and east (Biyadoo area). On top of that you can play volleyball (a group meets at 5pm every day), badminton, pool billiard, darts, table tennis or do some jogging on the beach. The bar has a changing entertainment program every night - sing karaoke, listen to the Fihalhohi live band, watch a movie or send out your personal crab to win the crab race.

The resort offers a variety of excursions like island hopping, snorkeling safari, night fishing et cetera. You even find a pretty well equipped store with souvenirs and basic traveler needs (make sure you negotiate the higher priced items). There are sufficient things to do to not make you feel trapped on this small small island in the huge Indian Ocean.
