2nd visit to the Maldives, 1st time we didn't use a tour operator from the U.K.
Despite a few problems with the transfer from Male to Gan, caused by Island Aviation flight times, Impex holidays and Equator Village owners arranged for a ferry over to Male and our evening meal in a local hotel free of charge.
Transfer is 1 1/4 hours, Gan airport is a new building, clean and simple.
The Equator village is only 10 minutes walk, but you will have a minibus waiting for you at the airport!
The hotel is comfortable, clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Food is not gourmet but plenty of it served in a simple and tasty fashion and they have themed nights. And if you go out fishing they will cook your catch for you!
Included in the all-inclusive package there's one night fishing with the locals a week, twice daily snorkelling trips, once a week island hopper, bike rental, tennis, table tennis, billiards/snooker...
We also tried the Serena Spa, and we enjoyed the treatments we had, thanks to Maria and Roslyn two professionally trained Therapists from India.
Diverland is the dive centre at Equator and is the only one on the Island, so no need to worry for the busy dive sites! The centre is well run and with Axel Horn in charge has an excellent future. Axel has just introduced 6 sets of Buddy Inspiration CCR's. They have over 26 dive sites, including probably the best hard coral reefs in the Maldives. Most ofthe diving is from a well crewed Dhoni.
Being the 2nd time to the Maldives we believe these were the best sites we have ever dived, the coral life especially is a blossom of colour and almost appear to be never ending. Mosham, sorry if I've spelt it wrong, the Maldivian guide was great.
All in all a very good and enjoyable holiday.
